Corpse of notorious criminal burnt by angry mob in Benue

An angry mob, on Wednesday at Naka the Gwer West Local Government headquarters, Benue reportedly stoned a notorious criminal to death and set his remains ablaze.

The wanted criminal known as Azis, met his Waterloo when he was nabbed on Wednesday afternoon nabbed by an irate mob in the community

Nigeriacrime.com gathered that the deceased who allegedly headed a gang of criminals was caught after days of searching for his hiding place.

According to resident in Naka community, “Azis led a gang who abducted and killed a commercial motorcycle operator in the town nicknamed Black Abino, over a week ago.

He said, “after killing Black Abino they took away his bike and dumped his corpse around Gyaluwa community also in Gwer West LGA from where it was recovered after six days. And that was not the first crime they have been committing.”

“Outraged by the incident that happened, Naka Action Youths allegedly investigated the heinous murder. The investigation led to his arrest.

During interrogation, Azis confessed to the general public that he committed the crime with his gang members.

“The youths in the area could not hold back, they immediately snatched him and stoned him to death after which they burnt his corpse.

“However one of his gang members who was also caught was saved when the police arrived at the scene and he was handed over to them.

“The youths who meted out the jungle justice vowed that they would not hesitate to deal decisively with anyone involved in criminal activities in the area because they were already going through turbulent times with the unending herder’s attacks in their communities and the resultant killings of their innocent kinsmen. Therefore any member of the communities caught adding to their pains would not be spared.”

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, Superintendent, SP, Catherine Anene said she had not received the report of the incident.
