Kidnapped Arthur Jarvis University Student rescued in Cross River

The kidnapped Arthur Jarvis University Student has been rescued by the Cross River State Police Command.

The female student who was kidnapped by youths from Akpabuyo Local government area of Akwa Ibom was rescued on Thursday.

It was gathered that the covert operation which led to the victim’s rescue was carried out by a Crack Team of policemen following directives of the Commissioner of Police Cross River state, CP Aminu Alhassan.

Nigeriacrime.com gathered that the covert operation took the tactical Unit into the hideout of the hoodlums in Akpabuyo where the victim was rescued at about 11 pm on Thursday.

Some of the suspects were neutralised while one was arrested. Meanwhile, the victim is currently receiving medical attention in the hospital.

Confirming rescue operations, the Police Public Relations Officer SP Irene Ugbo said: ” It is true, a Crack team of officers combed the creeks of Akpabuyo and rescued the victim at about 11 pm Thursday.

“It was based on the order of the Commissioner of Police CP Aminu Alhassan and we thank God that the student was rescued alive, she is recovering as she is also receiving treatment at the moment.

“This is a serious note of warning that we will not tolerate any form of criminality in any part of the state, no matter where they hide, we shall always smoke them out, no matter how long it takes.

” Every kidnapper or criminal in the state must understand that we are bringing the fight to them, we are not going to allow any person or group to carry out any nefarious activity in any part of Cross River State,” she warned.

Meanwhile barely 72 hours after ex-Governor Adebayo Alao-Akala’s farm supervisor, Christopher Bakare regained medical personnel, simply identified as Baba Rasheed was kidnapped by gunmen in Surulere Local Government Area of Ogbomoso in Oyo state.

Baba Rasheed, who operates a private clinic- Titilade hospital located at Gbede in the locality, was ambushed while driving on Ogbomoso-Ilorin expressway on Friday night. The gunmen whisked him away to an unknown destination.

Confirming the abduction, however, the state Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Adewale Osifeso, said the matter was being investigated.

“Investigation is ongoing, updates would be provided accordingly, please.” He added.
