My Husband Trafficked Me, Sold Our Son For N600,000—Survivor Reveals

A mother of one, Bright Essien who was reportedly trafficked by her husband, Kingsley Essien to Mali for prostitution has disclosed that he sold their son for six hundred thousand naira.

Recounting how her husband deceitfully trafficked her to Mali for prostitution, Bright said “sometime in October 2021, my husband, Kingsley, informed me that he had secured a job for me in Bamako Mali and that he has assisted many people to that country for greener pastures before.”

Explaining further Bright said I didn’t suspect any foul play until I got to Mali and discovered that I have been sold for one million four hundred thousand naira to a human trafficking cartel headed by a woman.”

 “While in Mali, I was forced into prostitution, but later I find my way to Nigeria embassy in Bamako where I was assisted back to Nigeria.”

“On getting to Nigeria, I discovered that our two years old son whom I. left in the care of my husband is nowhere to be found.”

Devastated by the ugly development, Bright complained to Agbara Divisional Headquarters

Following the report lodged at the station by the victim, the DPO Agbara Division, SP Abiodun Salau detailed his detectives to go after the suspect, and he was eventually arrested.

Confirming the incident, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi said that during interrogation, the suspect confessed to the commission of the crime. He confessed further that he sold the two years old son to somebody at the rate of six hundred thousand naira.”

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Bankole, has ordered the transfer of the suspect to the anti-human trafficking and child labour unit of the state criminal investigation and intelligence department for discreet investigation.

He equally ordered that the buyer of the son must be traced and arrested to recover the stolen child.
