Fourteen victims who were abducted by kidnappers along Lagos–Abuja Road, by Ikeran Oke, Ibillo, in Akoko – Ado Local Government Area of Edo have been rescued by security operatives attached to Edo State Police Command.
The Command through the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) Ibillo Division, at about 5:15 PM on Thursday 24th November 2022 received information that hoodlums who were operating at Ikeran Oke, under Ibillo Divisional Police Headquarters in Edo State attacked and kidnapped the passengers of two Costal Buses who were travelling from Benue State to Ilorin, Kwara State for a marriage ceremony but en route through Ibillo town in Edo State.
NigeriaCrime.com learned that the DPO immediately mobilised his patrol team, the Army personnel, Edo State Security Network personnel and the local hunters to the bush which resulted in the rescue of nine (9) victims while unspecified numbers were still missing. Early hours of Friday 25th November 2022. Five other passengers were rescued inside the bush as the DPO and the security men embarked on aggressive bush combing operations for possible rescue of all the passengers.
Confirming the rescue SP Chidi Nwabuzor, Police Public Relations Officer Edo State Police Command, said the Kidnap incident that took place on Thursday 24th November 2022 at about 4 pm along Lagos–Abuja Road, by Ikeran Oke, Ibillo, at Akoko – Ado Local Government Area of Edo State.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner Of Police Edo State Command, CP Mohammed A. Dankwara, vows to stop at nothing to see that all the kidnap victims are rescued and united with their families and loved ones, as such he gave the DPO a marching order to work with the Command’s Tactical teams to ensure that they are released unhurt, while he advised the families and loved ones of the kidnap victims to remain calm.
In a related development the Commissioner of Police Edo State, CP Mohammed A. Dankwara, has assured the public, particularly parents and guardians of the children/wards of Aduwawa Secondary school, Edo State that there is no cause for alarm as normalcy has been restored in Aduwawa Secondary School in the State by the Police.
The CP’s assurance came against the backdrop of the unrest at Aduwawa Secondary School on Thursday, 24th November 2022, that was perpetrated by some students of the school, who preliminary investigation reveals, were dissatisfied with disciplinary measures being taken by a female teacher in the school against some female students during an English language class.
The CP stated that two female students identified as the prime suspects in the assault on the teacher and the eventual uproar in the school have been detained and efforts to arrest other fleeing suspects is ongoing, he advised parents and guardians of those students to submit their children/wards who were involved in the agitation.
However, the CP has directed the Divisional Police Officer Aduwawa Division, to transfer the case file to the State Criminal Investigation Department Benin, after a preliminary investigation for further Investigation.
