Fifteen persons have been arrested for their involvement in various electoral offences during the last Saturday’s House of Assembly election in Ondo state.
Nigeriacrime.com gathered that the suspects were arrested on election day in different parts of the state with some currently with the military.
According to a statement by the state police command image maker, Funmi Odunlami in Akure, the suspects were arrested on election day in different parts of the state with some currently with the military.
Odunlami said that “They were arrested in connection with cases of Unlawful Possession of Firearm, Snatching of Ballot Boxes, Attempted Murder and Serious Assault
“All cases relating to electoral offenses will be harmonized and would be dealt with in accordance with the Electoral Act after completion of the investigation.
“The Command appreciates the collaboration of sister agencies and that of the law-abiding citizens in the state for the maintenance of law and order throughout the election period.
Odunlami said that “The Command is committed to serving the people of the State with a high sense of responsibility, professionalism and universal policing best practices.
In a related development, some thugs have been arrested by operatives of the Kano State Police Command in connection with setting ablaze the Kano singer’s residence, Dauda Rarara.
Nigeriacrime.com learned that the residence of the singer, who became famous with some songs he sang to boost the All Progressive Congress, APC campaign sometime back was set ablaze by the thugs after the outcome of the governorship election was announced by INEC in the state.
A resident in the area, Malam Yusuf said the thugs invaded the house and started destroying valuables before setting the house on fire.
“All you can hear are sounds of explosions from the house as the fire continues to damage the belongings.
“Minutes after, the police were informed and they came to disperse the thugs but at that time the fire was still on while firefighters were yet to arrive at the scene,” Yusuf said.
Meanwhile, all efforts to get the spokesman, Kano Police Command, SP Abdullahi Kiyawa to react to the development proved abortive as calls put across to his number rang severally were not responded to.
