Three passengers narrowly escaped death as a 40ft container fell on top of a Toyota Corolla car (JJJ 811 FB) at the top of Ojuelegba Bridge inwards Stadium on Funsho Williams Avenue, Surulere, Lagos.
Nigeriacrime.com learned that the three occupants who were trapped inside the saloon can when the 40ft container fell on their vehicle were promptly rescued by operatives of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), Police and other emergency responders on Sunday night, 24th of September, 2023.
Confirming the incident, Adebayo Taofiq, Director, Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department of LASTMA, said: “Traffic Officer Olajide Olukoga who led the Lastma rescue operations at the scene of the accident confirmed that a 40ft container fell on top of a Toyota Corolla car (JJJ 811 FB) at the top Ojuelegba bridge inwards Stadium.”
He confirmed further that out of those three casualties rescued from the Toyota Corolla saloon car, only one (male) came out unhurt and was allowed to go immediately.
“The other two rescued casualties an adult male and a female were rushed to hospital by an ambulance belonging to LASEMA.”
However, policemen attached to Surulere Police Division were at the scene to provide adequate security.
The entire Ojuelegba Bridge inward Stadium was temporarily closed and traffic was diverted to the service lane by Lastma Officials.
Rescue and recovery operators completed at 11:30 pm and the temporary closed Ojuelegba bridge was opened back for vehicular movement by LASTMA officials.
