Three AK-47 rifles and a locally fabricated gun, other dangerous weapons and cash were recovered from a political party office in Isa Local Government Area of Sokoto State, the state Police Command disclosed.
This was contained in a press statement signed and issued to newsmen in Gusau, the state capital, by the State Commissioner of Police, Mr Mohammed Usaini Gumel.
Gumel who did not disclosed the identity of the political party , suspected that the weapons were being stored by thugs ahead of political campaigns, saying that no arrest was made during the operation.
He said the dangerous items were discovered after operatives of the Command raided the office
According to him, the police would not tolerate any form of disobedience of the law, saying that the security agencies have been mandated to ensure that the citizens respect laws and orders for peace.

“Those intending to use 2023 general elections to perpetrate violence and crimes should be desist from such inhuman acts because the command under my watchful eyes would not tolerate bloodletting before, during campaigns or elections in the state,” he said.
Meanwhile, eight suspects arrested were accused of banditry, kidnapping and robbery in the last one month.
Gumel said the arrests and recoveries were made in Gwadabawa, Isa, Wamakko and Sokoto south local government areas.
He explained that the command arrested one Abdullahi Bello who in collaboration with Ibrahim and Aliyu all of Tudun Kwangi village carried out banditry in a community in Gwadabawa local government and recovered from him an AK-47 rifle.
Gumel said one Mohammed Umar of Bado Quarters , Sokoto who stole a Toyota car and fled away was sighted and arrested in Bakori, Katsina state.
