3 suspects arrested over the murder of a teacher

Three persons have been arrested in connection with the gruesome murder of an Ibadan-based teacher identified as Idowu Hamzat in Lagos, state.

The suspects identified as Kazeem Apena, Agbomeji Nojeem and Omobowale are currently cooling off in one of the cells at State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Panti at Yaba.

Nigeria crime.com learned that the 36-year-old teacher was killed in the Eredo area of Epe, Lagos State and his body was dumped in a bush.

Confirming the incident, the Spokesperson Lagos State Police Command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin said that the suspects have been moved to the homicide section of the command.

Hundeyin gave the names of the arrested suspects as; Kazeem Apena, Agbomeji Nojeem and Omobowale.

“Investigations have commenced on the incident. Three suspects have already been arrested. They are in our custody. The case has been transferred to the State CID, Panti for further investigations,” the PPRO added

The police are also on the trail of other members of the gang including Olaonipekun AKA Nokia, Abdul Wahab Kunle Baba Epe, Dare Samba, Idowu Felix, Agbomeji and others, involved in the murder.

Though the circumstances surrounding the death of the teacher are yet to be unravelled, there are indications that he might have been lured to Epe by the suspects.

A resident of Epe, who pleaded anonymity, while speaking with the Nigerian Tribune said; “Nobody knows the mission of the teacher in Epe. His parents even said that he had not been to Epe before.

“A resident who saw them when they were killing him informed the Vigilante members who in turn reported to the police before three of them were arrested

“It was through his mobile phone and Identification Card that he was traced to be a teacher in a school in Ibadan. It was also through the phone that the vigilante members were able to get his parents. When they came over the weekend, they claimed that their son had not been to Epe before,” the source added.
