Thirty criminals who have been terrorising residents of Nasarawa state have been arrested and paraded by the State Police Command.
Nigeriacrime.com gathered that 15 suspects were arrested for kidnapping, two for armed robbery, and four for cultism while nine others were arrested for other offences, across the state.
Speaking on the achievements recorded in curbing crimes in the State on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, Maiyaki Baba, the Command Public Relations Officer, DSP Ramhan Nansel said: “15 kidnap suspects, two armed robbery suspects, four suspected cultists including nine others were arrested for other offences, across the state
“Among the suspects was a six-member syndicate who were allegedly defrauding unsuspecting job seekers of their money under the pretext of securing employment for them at lucrative organizations.”
According to the PPRO, the suspects who operate under an unregistered organization, Quest International Company were arrested following complaints by 20 victims who had paid between 500,000 and 650,000 Naira to the syndicate to secure jobs, but failed to deliver on their promises to the applicants.”
DSP Ramhan Nansel further explains that four suspected cultists were also paraded due to a bloody clash between two rival groups; Black Axe and Green Bottle, which led to the death of one member each from the two cult groups.
DSP noted that other suspects include 22-year-old Hamza Yusuf from Lafia Local Government Area of the state who was arrested for allegedly kidnapping for ransom, two children between five and eight years.
The Police Spokesperson added that the suspects would be charged in court when investigations were concluded.
In a related development police operatives in Katsina State have arrested 30 suspected criminals for various heinous offences in Katsina communities within the last week.
They also rescued kidnapped victims and recovered rustled animals from suspected bandits during the period under review.
The Command’s Spokesperson, ASP Abubakar Sadiq said 24 suspected social miscreants were arrested when police operatives raided flashpoints in Yan Taba, Sabuwar unguwa, Tudun Yan Lihidda, and Jan Bango quarters, all in Katsina metropolis. A large cache of dangerous weapons, dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, and spirit solution, among others, were recovered from the suspects.
ASP Sadiq also disclosed that within the period under review, police operatives also foiled a kidnap attempt and rescued five victims unhurt from suspected terrorists armed with dangerous weapons when they attacked Hayin Shebau village, Matazu LGA where they kidnapped five (5) women and children.
Also arrested by the police in the last week in Katsina is a suspected notorious terrorist informant, identified as Ismail Abubakar, 30, alias BB, of Bugaje, Jibia LGA. According to ASP Sadiq, the suspect in the course of the investigation confessed to the commission of the offense and further revealed that he once orchestrated the kidnapping of his friend, for which he received the sum of N300,000 as his share from the proceeds.
