Four officers of the Nigeria Immigration Service have lost their lives in a ghastly motor accident along Kano – Zaria highway.
Nigeriacrime.com learned that the incident occurred near Kura local government area of Kano State.
The incident was said to have occurred when the tyre of the official bus (Nissan) with plate number HQ 100 IS conveying the officers burst on their way back to Abuja after attending a Passing Out Parade, POP in Kano over the weekend.
The spokesperson of the Kano command, M. Y. Bello who confirmed the incident, said two of the officers died on the spot while two others died in the hospital.
He said the personnel involved were from the service band team and Public Relations unit.
According to him, “The incident happened around 9 am on Sunday on their way returning to Abuja after attending the POP at the Kano Command.
“They were our band members and some from our PR unit in Abuja.
“They were about 10 of them. As of now, we lost four of them. Two died on the spot, one died on getting to the hospital and the other died late hours of the night in the hospital. Others sustained injuries.
“They were not in convoy as they left earlier,” Bello said.
Spokesperson of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Kano Command, Abdullahi Labaran also confirmed the incident to newsmen but said a total of nine passengers were involved in the accident out of which two died and seven others sustained injuries.
Meanwhile, it was gathered that the victims were evacuated to the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital, AKTH in Kano.
