4 kidnapped in Oyo farm settlement

Suspected kidnappers dressed in military camouflage have abducted four people at Farm Settlement in Iseyin, Iseyin Local Government area of Oyo State.

NigeriaCrime.com learned that the heavily armed kidnappers reportedly stormed a poultry farm within the settlement on Saturday morning and abducted four workers.

Confirming the incident, the Chairman of the Farm Settlement Association, Mr Rasheed Adedokun Adepoju, said the incident happened, on Saturday around 10:30 am.

He said the kidnappers, numbering about ten dressed in army camouflage with sophisticated weapons, invaded a big poultry farm situated within the settlement and abducted four workers, among whom was a lady.

Unfortunately, the abduction of farmers is gradually becoming a trend in some Southwest states.

Recall that similar incidents happened in July and August 2022 respectively in Ogbomoso and Oyo areas where yet-to-be-identified gunmen abducted three persons in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

It was gathered that the victims, who are said to be farmers, were kidnapped at two different locations in the Oluyole Local Government Area of the state on Monday.

The man and a couple were said to have been abducted at different times on their farms near Alabameji village, in the Sanyo and Soka areas.

The neighbouring communities, along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, are less than one kilometre apart.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Oyo State Police Command, Mr Olugbenga Fadeyi, confirmed the incident.

Also Bishop of Anglican Diocese, Jebba, Kwara, Rt. Rev. Aderogba alongside his wife and driver were kidnapped, and an undisclosed amount of money was paid for their release.
