4 murdered, 18 abducted as bandits invade Sokoto Village

Four persons have been murdered while 18 others were kidnapped as terrorists attacked a village in Sokoto.

Nigeriacrime.com gathered that the bandits attacked Giyawa village of Goronyo local government area Eastern senatorial district in Sokoto.

Confirming the incident, the Public Relations Officer, Sokoto Command Assistant Superintendent of Police Ahmed Rufai said four persons were killed in the banditry attack in Giyawa village of Goronyo local government area in the eastern senatorial district.

ASP Ahmed Rufai said that eighteen persons were also abducted by the assailants who also carted away other valuables including livestock.

According to him, seven of the earlier abducted persons later escaped from the captors and returned to their community where many residents had already fled for safety.

Though other sources from the affected community claimed that over thirty persons were abducted, but the police maintained that only eleven persons were still with the attackers.

He said the police were on the trail of the assailants and are making efforts to ensure normalcy restored in the affected community.

Meanwhile, in a related development “In the North West, troops of operation Hadarin Daji neutralized 18 terrorists, arrested 5 terrorists and rescued 10 kidnapped hostages.

“While responding to information of terrorist’s abduction of locals in Bukuyyum LGA of Zamfara State, troops during a firefight neutralized 6 terrorists while others fled abandoning their victims. Troops rescued 4 kidnapped victims and reunited them with their families.

“At Ungwa Doka in Faskari LGA of Katsina state, troops while on offensive patrol intercepted and rescued 3 civilian abductees. Troops also neutralized 7 terrorists.

“The air component of Operation Hadarin Daji conducted interdiction and degraded terrorists’ groups, logistics bases and denied them freedom of action.

“Troops of Operation Whirl Punch eliminated 17 terrorists, arrested 3 suspected terrorists and rescued 7 kidnapped hostages. Troops also recovered 34 assorted weapons, 399 IED detonator primers, one vehicle and 2 motorcycles.

‘The air component of Operation Whirl Punch conducted air recce and air interdiction over Gidan Hassan and Amfu Hills denying the terrorists freedom of action.
