A 400-level student of Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete, Rashidat Shittu, has reportedly committed suicide over her poor academic status.
Nigeriacrime.com gathered that the deceased committed suicide ahead of their upcoming exams by drinking “sniper”.
Shittu was said to have been pronounced dead on arrival at the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital UITH.
It was learned that she was earlier rushed to the school clinic before she was later referred to UITH.
According to a staff member who craved anonymity, she was brought in dead.
The staff who was part of the medical team that attended to her at UITH revealed: “Her colleagues said she was having issues with her academic status in school. She later informed her colleagues that she started feeling pain after she had drank the sniper.
A resident who also witnessed her Janazah at the Muslim cemetery, Osere, Ilorin, said that the deceased has been buried at the facility by family members and staff of the Students Affairs unit of KWASU.
Contacted, KWASU Director of University Relations, Mrs Saeedat Aliyu in a text message said “I haven’t been able to reach the officer in charge. I’ll revert as soon as I do”.
In a related development, a socialite and a businessman, in Ondo state, Sesan Adelabu, has reportedly committed suicide after killing his wife in Akure, the state capital.
Details of the incident remained sketchy but unconfirmed sources alleged that the socialite caught his wife in bed with one of his security guards.
The victim, reportedly macheted his wife to death and thereafter committed suicide by drinking sniper, an insecticide.
Nigeriacrime.com gathered that the ugly incident occurred at his Alagbaka GRA, in Akure metropolis.
His wife’s lifeless body was left on their matrimonial bed while the socialite died inside his toilet after drinking the insecticide.
Adelabu, according to sources has a chain of business investments including Petrol stations in Akure, the Ondo state capital.
Their corpses have been deposited at the Akure General Hospital.
When contacted, the state police spokesperson, Funmi Odunlami, confirmed the incident.
Odunlami said that the socialite murdered his wife and thereafter committed suicide by drinking sniper.
The police spokesperson added that police detectives have started their investigation on the matter
