A 48-year-old man, Akeem Yekini, has been arrested by operatives of the So-Safe Corps in Ogun State on Thursday for terrorising the state.
It was gathered that the suspected cultist was in possession of a pistol when the operatives apprehended him.
The So-Safe Corps spokesman, Moruf Yusuf, while quoting the Corps Commander, Soji Ganzallo, in a statement he shared with newsmen, said the suspects was arrested while responding to a distress call.
He stated that residents of Ijeun Tuntun in Abeokuta, the state capital, had alerted the corps of possible attacks from Yekini and his gang members, who occupied one of the two rented rooms in the area.
According to Ganzallo, the So-Safe team was able “to apprehend the kingpin, Mr Akeem Yekinni, a 48-year-old man, who resides at the said building at Nawar-ud-Deen, Ijeun Tuntun.”
The Commander stated that the suspect has refused to disclose the whereabout of his gang members and added that “a double-barrelled local pistol and a live cartridge was found wrapped with a cloth and kept in a travelling bag.”

Furthermore, Ganzallo said that the cultist and the exhibits found in his room had been transferred to the Anti-Cultism Unit of the Nigeria Police Force in Oke-Ijemo, for onward transfer to the State Police Headquarters, Eleweran, Abeokuta.
Menawhile, the Lagos State Police Command has denied that its operatives arrest a social media influencer, Blessing Okoro, popularly known as Blessing CEO, in connection to the death of late Bimbo Ogbonna.
Blessing CEO was reportedly arrested on Thursday morning over alleged involvement in celebrity auto dealer Ikechukwu Ogbonna, known as IVD, and his late wife, Bimbo Ogbonna’s case.
A trending video of her alleged arrest had emerged on social media on Thursday.
In the video, Blessing was being led to an armoured police car after she had refused to appear in court.
Recall that Bimbo died following an injury sustained from a fire incident in their home in Megamound Estate.
Bimbo’s sister had alleged that she died due to domestic violence.
However, Blessing, who claimed to be Ogbonna’s relationship therapist, alleged that the late Bimbo was violent and suicidal.
Contacted, the Lagos State Police spokesperson, David Hundeyin, he said he could confirm the arrest because the policemen involved are from Force CID in Abuja.
Calls to the Force CID were not responded to as of the time of filing this report.
