A 55-year-old man, identified as Oyeyemi Sharafadeen, has been ordered by a Federal High Court in Lagos to spend five years in prison for drug trafficking.
In a suit marked FHC/L/79c/23, the convict was dragged before the court on a three-count charge bordered on exportation of tramadol, rophynol and ecstacy.
Sharafadeen was reported to have pleaded guilty.
The court, after receiving Sharafadeen’s plea, reviewed the fact of the case.
The prosecutor, Augustine Nwagu, tendered several exhibits that were subsequently admitted by the court, to prove the charge.
Delivering his judgment, the presiding judge, Justice Chukwujekwu Aneke, found the defendant guilty and sentenced him to five years’ imprisonment on each of the three counts.

He, however, held that the terms should run concurrently and gave him an option of N5m fine.
According to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency which prosecuted him, Sharafadeen committed the offence on January 9 at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja.
The agency said during examination and clearing of cargo to Dubai, Sharafadeen was found in possession of tramadol, rophynol and ecstasy, in contravention of Section 20(2)(a) of the NDLEA Act of 2004.
Meanwhile, three persons have been confirmed dead on Friday while three others sustained varying degrees of injury in a multiple accident at U-turn, by Total Filling Station, Ogere, on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, Ogun State.
The incident was confirmed by the Public Education Officer, Federal Road Safety Corps, Mrs Florence Okpe, who added that it occurred around 7.10am.
She said the accident involved a Toyota Hiace bus, marked MN A48 ZY, a Man diesel truck, marked ABC 682 ZW, and a Daf truck with the number plate, T-3756LA.
Okpe attributed the accident to speeding, which resulted in a collision while the diesel truck was making a U-turn.
She said the sector commander, Mr Ahmed Umar, commiserated with the families of the victims and urged the motoring public to always drive defensively by anticipating the action of other drivers and observing road signs.
