Queue: Delta Man Dies In Bank

Customers of a bank in Agbor, Delta State, were left in shock as a customer, who had waited in the long queue slumped and died on the spot.

It was gathered that the incident happened on Friday.

A source within the community said the man died after waiting for hours on end to collect his Automated Teller Machine (ATM) card at the bank’s branch in Ika South Local Government Area, Delta State.

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Bright Edafe, said, “He was not trying to withdraw cash as claimed; however, he came to the said bank to collect his ATM card.”

Checks confirmed that banking halls across various commercial banks in Lagos, Osun, Ekiti, and other parts of the country witnessed minimal activity as frustrated customers resorted to alternative means of cash withdrawal following the scarcity of naira notes in the banks.

It was also gathered that while most banking halls were empty due to paucity of funds in bank vaults, large crowds had formed outside some of the few banks that were rumoured to be preparing to load their Automated Teller Machines.

Meanwhile, four pupils of the Local Education Authority Primary School, Alwaza in the Doma local government area of Nasarawa State have regained their freedom from kidnappers.

Six children of the school were last two weeks abducted by gunmen who later released two of the victims.

Recall that the pupils were kidnapped when the bandits ambushed them in the morning as they were entering their school.

There has not been any official report from the police on the release of the remaining four pupils.
