The Operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), on Thursday, May 26, arrested four persons for extorting motorists in Lagos state while posing as officials of the disbanded committee on the Removal of Abandoned Vehicles (RAVC) in the state.
The culprits are: Taiwo Falodun, aka Biggy, Adedire Olaniyi, Femi Osunkoya and Olalekan Edu, according to reports.
Two amongst the perpetrators, Adedire and Osunkoya, were apprehended yesterday (Thursday) after impounding the vehicle of a motorist for changing lanes at Alausa.
The motorist stated that she was asked to pay N50,000 as fine, after they took her vehicle to a park in front of one Elephant Cement House around the neighbourhood.
She, however, reached out to friends who contacted the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) operatives, who arrested the perpetrators, and commenced preliminary investigations at their station.

While investigation was ongoing, the leader of the syndicate, Taiwo Falodun, came along with a government official, identified as Olalekan Edu, to solicit the release of the arrested culprits.
However, they were arrested by the RSS operatives as well.
According to reports, the RRS fingerprint records showed that Taiwo Falodun and Adedire Olaniyi were arrested in 2020 for extorting a university lecturer, while posing as local government officials along LASU-Igando road.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Lagos State Command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, stated that the state’s commissioner of police, CP Abiodun Alabi, fdc, has directed the RSS commander, CSP Olayinka Egbeyemi, to charge the perpetrators to court at the conclusion of investigations.
