Auto crash claims 3, injures 13 in Kano

Three persons have been confirmed dead while 13 others sustained injuries from a lone motor accident along Kano road.

Nigeriacrime.com gathered that the incident involving a commercial transport with registration number XE 222 TRN and conveying 18 passengers from Ajingi Local Government Area of the state to Wambai market in Kano city occurred when the rear tyre of the vehicle removed and instantly engulfed by fire.

Confirming the incident, the spokesperson of Kano Fire Service, Saminu Yusif said both the driver and the conductor of the vehicle escaped unhurt from the accident.

According to him, “Today being Tuesday 04th April 2023, our Central Control Unit received an emergency call at about 08:51 am from one Muktar Yusuf who reported a fire outbreak at State Road by Government Technical College. Our men arrived at the scene of the incident at about 08:59 am and found out that, it was a commercial vehicle Later Haice with registration number XE 222 TRN.

“The cause of the incident involving the vehicle coming from AJINGI LGA, to Kano City Kofar Wanbai was as a result of outage of one rear tyre while at speed and instantly engulfed by fire.

“Fire officers and FRSC officers made the effort and successfully quench the fire and rescued 18 passengers respectively.

“Out of the 18 passengers, 3 females were rescued dead namely, Zeenai Babaji, Surayya Umar and one unknown name while 13 victims were rescued alive with some degree of injuries. We conveyed all of the victims to Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital.

“Victims who sustained injuries include, Safiya Sani, Yusuf Aminu, Gaje Aminu, Surajo Sani, Ummahani Umaru, Rabi Rufai and Hasana Muhd.

“Others include Maryam Ibrahim, Saadatu Kabiru, Zainab Gali, Hannatu Farisi, Abdullahi Kabiru and Aisha Usaini.

“Lastly, the driver, Muhd Gali (35-year-old) and bus conductor, Hassan Danladi (30-year-old) were rescued alive without any injury.

“We handed victims over to Inspector Abubakar Ahmad of Nassarawa Police Division.

“Let me seize this opportunity to call on the motorist and other road users to drive with care to avoid fire/ road accident,” Yusif however appealed.
