A Grade 1 Area Court in Kubwa, Abuja, has been asked to dissolve a one-year-old marriage between Mrs Wasilat Saka and her husband Tajudeen Jimoh, over his refusal to pray.
Saka, a civil servant, dragged her husband to court in Thursday over conflicting faith beliefs.
She told the court that they got married on July 30, 2022 under Islamic Law but the marriage is yet to produce a child.
According to the wife, one of her reasons for asking for the dissolution of the marriage is because Jimoh, who claimed to be a Moslem, soon abandoned her for months while refusing to perform all Islamic rites.
She said, “My husband does not observe five daily prayers and does not observe Ramadan fast either.
“We always quarrel and fight; for these reasons, I beg the court to grant my request for a divorce.”
Though Jimoh was absent from court, the court’s bailiff, Mr Dangana Bawa, tendered a proof that he was served the hearing notice.
The Judge, Ibrahim Rufai, adjourned the matter until June 13, for judgmentt.
In another development, the Police Command in Enugu State has arrested nine suspects for various offences in different locations in the state within the month of May 2023.

The suspects were arrested for conspiracy, murder, armed robbery, unlawful possession of firearms and cultism.
The disclosure is contained in a statement issued by the Command’s Spokesman, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, on Thursday in Enugu.
Ndukwe said the police recovered one cut-to-size double-barreled gun, one cut-to-size single-barreled gun, one locally made double-barreled pistol, seven live cartridges, one battleaxe head, different bank’s ATM Cards, two black berets and other incriminating items.
“Investigation revealed that the suspects are part of an armed robbery syndicate specialized in car snatching, dispossessing innocent citizens within Enugu metropolis, especially in Abakpa and Trans-Ekulu, of their belongings.
The Police revealed that they were also involved in attacking and robbing Point-of-Sale, POS, operators.
“They were also found to be members of the Vikings Confraternity, involved in the recent rival cult war in different parts of Enugu State, wherein some young persons were shot and murdered.
“The suspects have been arraigned in court and remanded in Enugu Custodial Centre, pending further hearing into the case,” he said.
