Gov Yusuf Sacks 10,800 Illegal Kano State Workers

No fewer than 10,800 alleged illegal workers have been sacked by the Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf.

The affected workers were employed by the administration of the former Governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.

The governor had earlier alleged that Ganduje, when he was about to leave office, maliciously employed over 10,000 workers in the civil service of the state.

Conveying the governor’s order on Monday, the Accountant General, Abdulkadir Abdusalam, said Yusuf ordered his office to remove the affected workers from the state’s payroll.

However, he added that his office would carry out an investigation to find out the genuineness of their engagement and procedures so as to remove those illegally recruited.

Concerning local government workers in the state, Abdusalam disclosed that those who were converted to state workers by the former administration would continue receiving their salaries.

However, he said it would be based on local government levels, asking them to continue working in their new state’s MDAs until the investigation is concluded.
