A suspected armed robber has been killed in a gun duel with operatives of the Gombe State Police Command.
NIGERIACRIME also learnt that three others were arrested, and six escaped with bullet wounds.
According to the command’s Deputy Public Relations Officer, Sharif Saad, on Friday, the suspected armed robbers had terrorised the residents of Gombe metropolis, especially Arawa, Malam Inna and Nayi Nawa quarters of the state.
Saad stated that they were operating in Arawa quarters when the command’s control room was alerted.
His statement partly read, “The suspected robbers invaded the residence of Alhaji Gidado Muhammad Sani, at Arawa Quarters, shooting sporadically and robbing them of their valuable property. The robbers injured Sani’s security man, Mohammed Abdullahi, on his head, left hand, and back.”
According to him, acting on the distress call, the Commissioner of Police, Oqua Etim, mobilised the tactical team of Operation 999 to the scene, which swiftly responded, noting that three members of the gang were arrested while six others escaped with bullet wounds.
“On sighting the operatives, the armed robbers engaged them in a gun duel where one of the deadly robbers, Alias Albaru of Kumbiya Kumbiya quarters, was neutralised, while Adamu Usman alias Bali, 22-years-old of Barunde Quarters, Mustapha Abdullahi alias Jammaye, 22 years, of Malam inna and Abdullahi Hussaini alias Danbasi, 21 years, of Anguwa uku, were arrested and six others on the run with suspected bullet wounds.

“Part of the exhibits robbed from the victims were recovered as efforts is emplaced to arrest the fleeing suspects,” Saad said.
Meanwhile, three people died, while one other was injured in an accident on Friday along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway.
The accident involved a Toyota Sienna vehicle with registration number, BDG 426 HT and a DAF truck, marked, RNG 558 XC.
Spokesperson of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Ogun State, Florence Okpe, confirmed the accident to journalists in Abeokuta on Friday.
According to her, the accident occurred around the Total petrol station located on the highway.
Okpe disclosed that seven persons, comprising four male adults, two female adults and one child were involved in the accident, which she blamed on speeding on the part of the Sienna driver.
She explained that the Sienna driver rammed into the DAF truck coming out of the trailer park.
“The injured victim was taken to Isara General Hospital, while the corpses were deposited at FOS morgue, Ipara,” she said.
Meanwhile, the Sector Commander has cautioned motorists to avoid speeding and to use a common-sense speed limit.
