Why I Killed My Girl, Dumped Her Corpse In Bush – 24-year-old Keke Operator

A 24-year-old Keke Napep operator, Chigozie Nwokoro, has given the reason he killed his girlfriend and dumped her corpse in the bush.

The suspect, in his confessional statement to Ajata Ibekwu youths, blamed his sexual urge for the act committed inside his house in Umahia.

Nwokoro was nabbed by youths of the community on Wednesday night, while dumping the dead body of his girlfriend in the bush.

He claimed that his late girlfriend, identified as Beauty, a native of Oboro in Ikwuano Local Government Area, refused his demand to make love to her, which according to him, caused a fight between them.

The victim, according to the suspect, hit her on the wall of his room during the fight, leading to her untimely death at about 7 pm.

Nwokoro told the youths that he really loved the deceased but when he realised that his girlfriend was dead, he became confused on what to do and later made up his mind to dump her body in the bush at night, to avoid being noticed.

But his plans were later exposed when some youths observed him driving into a bush path at odd hours of the night, which made them trace him.

“The suspect has been handed over to the police after receiving the beating of his life, while the body of the victim is expected to undergo an autopsy to determine the true cause of her death,” a source said.

The Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO of Abia State Command, Chioma Maureen Chinaka, confirmed the arrest of the suspect, saying that he is already in the police net.

In another news, an Abeokuta Magistrates’ Court on Friday remanded a 39-year-old man, Michael Sunday, in prison for allegedly selling his employer’s 52 bags of rice worth N1.6 million without remitting the proceeds.

Sunday, whose address was not provided, is facing a one-count charge of stealing.

The prosecutor, ASP Olakunle Shonibare, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on June 19 at the Kuto area of Abeokuta.

Shonibare alleged that the defendant who is a sales representative failed to remit the money of the rice he sold belonging to one Mr Kunle Adetunji, his employer.

According to him, the complainant had sent the defendant to deliver 52 bags of rice to a customer at Ijebu-Igbo.

He said Sunday instead diverted the sale of the rice to another person and converted the money to his personal use.

“When the complainant got to know that the defendant has stolen his rice and money, he reported him at the police station.

“Upon investigation, the police arrested him and searched him, and they recovered N620,000 from him, remaining N992,000 as the balance of the proceeds from the sold rice,’’ Shonibare said.

He added that the offence contravened Sections 419 and 390(9) of the Criminal Code, and Laws of Ogun 2006.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The magistrate, Mrs O.O. Odumosu, ordered that the defendant be remanded at the Ibara Correctional Centre until Aug. 8 for judgment.
