Notorious Criminals’ Hideout Busted By Rivers Police

The camp of a notorious cultist in Ahoada, identified as General Danger has been busted by men of the Rivers State Police Command.

A member of his gang was neutralised during the operation.

This was conveyed to journalists by the state Commissioner of Police, Nwonyi Polycarp-Emeka, during a media briefing at the Command Headquarters in Moscow Road, Port Harcourt.

The police boss said General Danger and another suspected notorious cultist identified as Double Chief narrowly escaped.

According to the CP, arms and ammunition were recovered during the raid, including one AK-47 rifle, five magazines loaded with 51 live ammunition, GPMG live ammunition and assorted charms.

Additionally, he said a camp of criminals in Igwuruta, the Ikwerre Local Government Area, was raided, adding that one suspect was killed while efforts were on to arrest fleeing suspects.

According to the CP, operatives of the C41 intelligence unit of the Command also arrested a suspect who ran to Ogun State after participating in the killing of Justice Azunda, the late Protocol Officer to Chief of Staff to the former Governor of the state.

The suspect was said to have confessed to collecting N2 million from the family of Azunda before he was killed.

“During interrogation the suspect confessed to have collected the sum of N2 million through a bank transaction from the family of the victim before he was murdered,” he said.

Furthermore, the police boss stated that “on the 20th of July, 2023, members of the same kidnapping gang engaged the police in a fierce battle and one Uchendu Azunda was fatally wounded after operatives of the C41 intelligence unit received a distress call that armed robbers were operating at Ikwerre road, which they immediately swung into action and recovered a snatched black jeep and arrested the suspects.”

Six suspects were paraded with charms, arms and ammunition at the Command Headquarters in Port Harcourt.
