40-year-old Man Arrested By Amotekun For Burglary, Phone Theft

A 40-year-old man has been arrested by operatives of the Osun Amotekun Corps over his alleged involvement in burglary and phone theft.

According to the Corps Commander, Brigadier General Bashir Adewinmbi, while addressing newsmen on the arrest in Osogbo on Thursday, the suspect, identified as Rufai Wasiu, specialises in house burgling and stealing.

He was reportedly arrested after a complaint was lodged.

The commander said, “The suspect was arrested in Osogbo after burgling a house and stealing phones by the operatives after a complaint was lodged at our Osogbo command about his atrocities.

“The suspect confessed to committing the act and had been jailed for the same act in the past.

“The suspect has been handed over to the police for subsequent interrogation and prosecution.”

Adewinmbi stressed that the suspect has been terrorising people in the area for a long time.

In another news, the Deputy Provost, College of Health Science and Technology, Gusau, Halliru Mande has warned that the Institution would not tolerate any student with indecent dressing, warning students to always present themselves decently.

Mande gave the warning while answering questions from newsmen in his office.

He tasked the new students to comply with the rules and regulations of the college, particularly the dress code and other school rules as well as values.

He noted that indecent dressing begins at home because most parents do not care to monitor what their children are wearing, saying that going to school alone can never train children properly.

“There are some things that teachers can do but not all, teachers can try their best and leave the rest for the parents. No educated parent can expect the school to do everything for their children.

Halliru also called on parents and guardians of students to ensure prompt payment of their ward’s fees.
