1005 suspects arrested,as police rescue 171 kidnapped victims in Katsina

A total of 1005 suspects have been arrested by the Katsina State Police Command in connection with 853 reported cases in Katsina.

Nigeriacrime.com learned that out of these cases, 395 are currently undergoing prosecution in various courts within the state.

The Command’s spokesman, ASP Abubakar Sadiq, disclosed that the Command also rescued 171 kidnapped victims, neutralised five suspected kidnappers and recovered a significant cache of weapons, including 4 AK-47 rifles, 6 locally made guns, and 517 live rounds of ammunition in its fight against crime and criminality in the state from June 1st to September 30th, 2023.

ASP Sadiq said that out of the 1005 suspects, 53 were arrested for robbery, 82 for kidnapping, 73 for murder, and 90 on suspicion of rape. Furthermore, 707 individuals were apprehended for various offences, such as possession of illegal drugs, cultism, incitement of disturbance, and involvement in gang-related activities.

Other achievement of the Command during this same period as unveiled by ASP Sadiq includes the recovery of over 600 suspected rustled animals and a substantial number of stolen motor vehicles and motorcycles.

The Command also confiscated various drugs, including 568 sachets of D5 tablets, 180 wraps of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, 23 packets of Exzole tablets, 411 packets of rebozel tablets, and 5 packs of Diezole tablets between June 1st to September 30, 2023, the PPRO’ noted.

ASP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu expressed his appreciation for the support of the media, referring to them as the “Fourth Realm,” and commended their fair and balanced reporting of the command’s activities. He highlighted their crucial role in enhancing peace and security within the state.

Sadiq acknowledged the unwavering commitment of Ag. IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, emphasises the pivotal role his support played in the command’s success. He also expressed gratitude to the citizens of Katsina State for their support and urged continued collaboration with security agencies in the ongoing effort to combat crime.
