10-year-old Bauchi Girl Killed For Ritual

The life of a 10-year-old girl has been reportedly cut short by suspected ritualists in Guyaba village of the Kirfi Local Government Area of Bauchi State.

Community sources who confirmed the incident stated that some body parts of the victims were missing when her lifeless bodies were found days after her parents declared her missing.

However, details are still sketchy on how the victim was killed as of the time of writing this report.

The incident was confirmed by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the state police command, SP Ahmed Wakili.

Furthermore, the spokesperson said the Commissioner, CP Auwal Musa, has ordered an investigation into the gruesome killing of the little girl.

He said, “The CP, Auwal Musa Muhammad, has directed the DPO, Kirfi Police Division, to investigate and unravel the circumstance of her death, arrest and prosecute the perpetrators of the dastardly act. So the investigation is ongoing.”

The state’s First Lady, Aisha Bala Muhammad, has visited the victim’s parents.

She charged traditional rulers, faith-based bodies, and security agencies to fish out the culprits.

The latest killing comes two months after suspected ritualists killed a toddler, a one-half-year-old boy, Mohammed Abideen Musa, who was found dead with his vital organs missing in a school at Games Village in the Bauchi metropolis.

Meanwhile, another boat accident in Adamawa State has claimed 11 lives.

This would be the second boat mishap in three days in Adamawa after an accident on Saturday where 10 persons lost their lives.

The latest incident occurred Monday afternoon at Kwatan Mallam Adamu in Gurin village in Fufore Local Government Area where farmers, hurrying to reach home to escape a threatening rainfall, rushed into the ill-fated boat.

According to a witness, Dahiru Gurin, “About 40 passengers crammed into the boat to get home before today’s heavy downpour. Unfortunately, midway, a strong wind and thunderstorm set in, causing the boat to capsize.”

Indicating that quick intervention by divers reduced casualty, Gurin added, “A mother who held up her infant on the surface of the water drowned, but the baby was saved by a diver.”

Another source said divers had so far taken out 11 bodies from the water.

The Executive Secretary of Adamawa State Emergency Management Agency (ADSEMA), Mohamed Suleiman, confirmed the incident but could not be definite about casualty figures.

He insisted late on Monday that rescue efforts were yet to ascertain details on the accident.
