Three Suspected Ritualists Arrested In Osun, Caught With Corpses

Three suspected members of a gang that specialises in exhuming corpses and removing their parts for rituals have been arrested by the Osun State Security Network Agency, Amotekun Corps.

This was disclosed by the Osun State Amotekun spokesperson, Adeniyi Adeshola Brown, in a statement he made available to newsmen on Tuesday.

The spokesperson identified the suspects as Kamilu Kehinde, a 43-year-old mechanic, Akeem Hamzat, 56-year-old driver and Wakeel Baka, a herbalist.

The image maker stated that operatives of Iwo Command received an intelligence that led to the arrest of the suspects.

The statement read, “On interrogation, the suspects made confessional statements that they were into the business of exhuming corpses from graves; which they then sell to buyers who need them for money-making rituals; and also that.

“Akeem Hamzat was not actually one of them, but rather one Ogun, who is now at large with an exhumed body part.”

The spokesperson, however, disclosed that the Corps Commander, Osun State Security Network Agency, Bashir Abiodun Adewinmbi, has directed that the suspects be transferred to the Nigeria Police for discreet investigation and possible prosecution.

“Residents of the state are encouraged to be more security conscious and always ensure that they report all suspicious activities to the Osun Amotekun.

“When you see something, please always say something,” it said.

Meanwhile, a storey building belonging to former Ebonyi State Commissioner for Solid Mineral Development, Chris Uchaji, was razed by fire on Tuesday.

The fire incident, which occurred at No. 13 Onor Street, Abakaliki, Ebonyi state capital, razed the storey building and other valuable properties worth millions of naira.

Uchaji, who spoke with newsmen shortly after the incident, said that he was at the stadium with his wife for morning exercise when he received a distress call from his security man that his family house was on fire.

According to him: “Early this morning I went for sports at the state stadium together with my wife and we were coming back when I received a call from my security man shouting, fire, fire.

“We quickly rushed in only to see many people on a rescue mission as the whole house had been engulfed with fire. I suspected it was due to an electrical spark and it started in my wife’s room, where my six-year-old daughter was sleeping.

“The intensity of the fire was high and it spread to other rooms, causing massive damage, but thank God no life was lost. I thank God for people’s goodwill and the fire service. Though the state fire service came here, their water finished early, but with the intervention of federal firefighters, they were able to control the fire.”
