We were arrested after a successful robbery operation— ex-convicts

Operatives of Ogun State Police Command have apprehended two ex-convicts who were returning from a robbery operation in Oyo State.

Nigeriacrime.com learned that the suspects: Wasiu Opeyemi indigene of Ijebu ode and Noah Israel a Benue state indigene were apprehended by men of the State Anti Kidnapping Unit who were on routine patrol at the Mowe area of Lagos Ibadan expressway.

It was gathered that the two men who attempted to escape on a motorcycle were stopped for questioning by the police team because of the suspicious manner they appeared.

Suspects account
We were coming from Ogbomoso in Oyo State where they have gone to carry out a robbery operation. All the goods in our possession proceed with the operation. We forced one of our victims to transfer the sum of one hundred thousand nairas into our account since we didn’t find anything thing tangible with him.”

The suspects who claimed to have met at Oba Correctional Center while serving different jail terms confessed to robbing their victims with cutlass and other dangerous weapons.

Confirming the arrest, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, Police Public Relations Officer, Ogun State Police Command said some of the items recovered from them are two laptops, eleven phones of different types, and one Rolex wristwatch, cash sum of N122,000, and bags containing household items.”

However, the Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Bankole, has ordered a thorough investigation of the ex-convicts suspects before transferring them to Oyo state where they will be prosecuted.
