Insecurity: Wike Orders CP To Establish More Police Divisions In Gwagwalada

Following the incessant terrorist attacks and kidnappings in Abuja, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has asked the Police Commissioner, FCT Command to create two more Police Divisions in the Gwagwalada Area Council of the territory.

This order was issued in response to the request by the Council’s Chairman, Mr Abubakar Giri, during a security town hall with relevant stakeholders in Gwagwalada, to find lasting solutions to security challenges affecting the FCT.

Giri pleaded for more divisions to improve security, especially in border communities.

The FCT minister assured residents of the area of President Bola Tinubu’s resolve to address the security challenges in the FCT, stating that the two police divisions would be established immediately considering the security exigencies.

The minister also said he had secured President Tinubu’s approval to procure and distribute operational vehicles and communications gadgets to the police and other security agencies in the FCT.

He also promised to construct a befitting health facility and implement other development projects in the area as requested by the residents.

“I am here on the directive of President Tinubu to meet and discuss with you the prevailing security challenges and find lasting solutions together,” Wike said.

“Security is one of the priorities of the currency government, so, be rest assured that you are not alone, and we will do all that we can to end security challenges in the territory.”

In recent times, the FCT has been faced with several security challenges, with kidnapping taking the largest portion.

NIGERIACRIME reported earlier that two people; a businesswoman and her family member were kidnapped on Thursday night when gunmen invaded Hilltop Phase 2 Extension of the Nigerian Army Post-Housing Estate.

The assailants were said to have been shooting sporadically around 9 pm when they stormed the estate in a bid to scare residents away.

It was gathered that despite the presence of soldiers in the estate, the kidnappers went away with their victims through the hillside.
