Barely 24 hours after the video, of a popular Lagos Car Dealer Afolabi Ogunnaike who has since committed suicide went viral on social media details of why he took is his life has began to emerge.
Hours before Afolabi Ogunnaike reportedly hung himself, he dropped a cryptic message for his family where he spoke in Yoruba language, apologising to his loved ones.
On the fateful day, Ogunnaike took his life he took his wife and kids to church (name of church withheld).
It was when he got home that he did that suicide video.
It was also learned that Ogunnaike unknown to anyone, had attempted suicide a couple of weeks ago but everyone thought he was seriously ill.
Contrary to claims that Ogunnaike
killed himself because of loan sharks, Nigeriacrime.com gathered that Ogunnaike worked at a car mart as a supervisor.
The owner of the car mart imported cars from abroad to sell and Ogunnaike, popularly known as Afo, was in charge of selling them.
However, trouble started when they discovered that most of the car’s catalysts have been removed. Sequel to the ugly development which was noticed at the point of selling the cars the mechanic that had been working on the cars was promptly arrested.
NigeriaCrime.com learned that upon interrogation, he confessed that he and Ogunnaike had been the ones removing catalysts from cars to be sold.
The mechanic alleged that Ogunnaike usually brought the cars to his shop, on the pretense that they needed to fix some things, and the catalysts would be removed in the process.
Following the ugly development, the owner of the car mart did a disclaimer on his social media pages and told his friends and customers that Ogunnaike was no longer working with him.
A couple of the car mart owner’s who Ogunnaike had worked with later come out to confirm that they faced similar situations when he was with them.
Ogunnaike was promptly arrested and taken to the state Criminal Investigations Department, Yaba, Panti where Ogunnaike and the mechanic spent days in police custody.
On the verge of being arraigned in court, they had a plea bargain with the owner of the car mart where the cost of the catalysts was calculated, and it was well over two million naira. Ogunnaike and the mechanic were to pay equally. The mechanic had reportedly paid his own.
It was while trying to raise the money that he decided to end it all.
His wife and kids have since been moved to Ibadan as he demanded in his last wishes.
