A self-acclaimed Police Community Relations Committee member, Alhaji Musa Araokanmi is presently being investigated by policemen attached to Ago Iwoye divisional Ogun State Police Command for fraud.
Alhaji Araokanmi, as gathered, collected the sum of one million four hundred thousand naira from Halimot Olorunlomeru under the pretense that he will assist her to get auctioned car and motorcycles from the police auction sales.
NigeriaCrime.com learned that Alhaji Araokanmi was arrested following a complaint lodged at Ago Iwoye divisional headquarters by the victim.
Victim’s Account
According to Halimot Olorunlomeru who reported the case of fraud at the station, Alhaji Musa Araokanmi introduced himself to me as a member of the Police Community Relations Committee(PCRC). He told me that he is in charge of Police auction sales.”
Explaining further Olorunlomeru started that the suspect advised me to deposit the sum of N1.4 million with him to get a very good car and motorcycles from Police auction sales.”
“Since Alhaji Musa Araokanmi, collected the amount on June 2020, he has been on the run. All efforts to locate him proved abortive until he was recently sighted in Ago iwoye.”
Based on the strength of the complaint, the DPO Ago iwoye division, SP Noah Adekanye detailed his detectives to the scene where the suspect was arrested.
Confirming the arrest, SP Abimbola Oyeyemi, Police Public Relations Officer, Ogun State Police Command said preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect who confessed to the commission of the crime has never been a member of PCRC anywhere in Ogun State as he claimed.
However, the Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Bankole, has directed an in-depth investigation into the suspect’s past activities, with the view to arraign him in court as soon as possible.
