Hostages rescued in Kaduna: Seven hostages who were kidnapped by suspected bandits have been rescued by Troops of Operation Forest Sanity in Birnin Gwari and Chikun Local Government Areas of Kaduna State.
The seven hostages are Joseph Ishaku, John Bulus, Gloria Shedrack (and her four children): Jimre Shedrack, Jonathan Shedrack, Angelina Shedrack and Abigail Shedrack.
NigeriaCrime.com learned that the victims were rescued during a patrol operation along the Birnin Gwari-Gayam-Kuriga-Manini axis.
According to Samuel Aruwan, the Commissioner of Internal Security and Home Affairs in Kaduna State the troops came under fire from bandits while on patrol along the Birnin Gwari-Gayam-Kuriga-Manini axis.
The troops, however, returned fire and promptly subdued the bandits, who fled into the forests, leaving behind the captives in their custody.
The troops then rescued the seven victims, who are identified as follows:Joseph Ishaku, John Bulus, Gloria Shedrack (and her four children): Jimre Shedrack, Jonathan Shedrack, Angelina Shedrack and Abigail Shedrack.
“The Government of Kaduna State commended the troops and thanked them for their brave efforts in rescuing the victims. The seven victims have been reunited with their families,” Aruwan said.
In a related development, three women have been kidnapped by armed bandits who attacked Anguwar Tudun Fulani which is located in Yangoji Village, Kwali Area Council along the Lokoja-Abuja.
Sources from the community said the attack which took place on Sunday night, happened at about 11 pm and that the bandits announced their arrival by shooting sporadically to awaken the community before abducting the three women.
The names of the three abducted women were given as Hauwa Musa, Zainab Musa and Sa’adatu Adamu.
Confirming the attack, the village head of Tudun Fulani (Mai-Anguwa), Alhaji Aliyu Abubakar, noted that the bandits shattered the windows and front door of one of the houses and abducted two of the women.
He added, “After that, they moved to the next house and abducted another woman before leaving the community.
Sources disclosed that the husbands of the abducted women had travelled out of the community before the incident happened.
Abubakar (Mai-Anguwa), stated that said the attack was the third in the area since January this year, pointing out that fear has enveloped the community and many of his kinsmen have started relocating to other areas.
Consequently, he said, “I have summoned several meetings to see how we can engage the services of Vigilantes, but my people are not cooperating.”
It would be recalled that about two months ago, another band of bandits invaded the same Yangoji community and abducted the wife and three children of the Local Fulani Chief, with Police saying that a manhunt had been launched for the bandits.
But at the time of filling this story, nothing has been heard of the outcome of the manhunt or investigation
