Ondo Hospital Shuts Down Over Burgling By Hoodlums

The founder of Ileri Oluwa House of Hope Hospital, Mr Hakeem Oyeneyin, has shut down the facility till further notice.

Oyeneyin stated that his decision is to allow the host community, Ondo town, to guarantee adequate security for the staff and properties of the Ondo State-based hospital.

This is coming after some yet-to-be-identified hoodlums broke into the facility, carting away valuables worth millions of naira on Sunday.

The founder, who said the thieves used the hospital roof and window as their means of entry and exit, stressed on the importance of security in running a hospital.

He apologised to patients for the inconvenience the development might cause, adding that the incident had been reported to the police and investigation was ongoing.

Meanwhile, the Ondo State Police Command on Wednesday said it had commenced investigation into the alleged attack.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Mrs Funmilayo Odunlami, said the command had commenced investigation into the incident.

“It was a case of burglary and we have commenced investigation into it,” the PPRO stated.
