Two Suspected Burglars Arrested In Ekiti, Items Recovered

Two suspected burglars have been apprehended in Ekiti State, the Police Command in the state revealed.

According to a statement by the state Police Public Relations Officer, Sunday Abutu, the suspects broke into 16 houses and shops in the state capital of Ekiti; Ado Ekiti.

The suspects, who are serial burglars, according to the police, were identified simply as Olamide and Michael

The police spokesman stated that valuables belonging to 16 different complainants were recovered from the two suspects.

The image maker of the Ekiti Police, in a statement on Sunday, said Olamide’s arrest on October 1 led to that of Michael, while three other suspects on the run were still being hunted.

According to him, the two suspects led security agents to where they kept the stolen items, following which they were recovered by the police.

Abutu listed the items recovered to include different varieties of electronic appliances, 220 pairs of male and female shoes, 275 male and female cloths, assorted wines, provisions and foodstuffs and one bag containing three hammers, one wooden saw and a chisel.

The statement reads in part, “The operatives of the Command, on 01/10/2022, arrested one SEGUN OLAMIDE a.k.a CONFIDENCE for allegedly burgling into sixteen houses and shops belonging to sixteen different complainants within Ado-Ekiti and carting away numerous valuables.

“During interrogation, the suspect confessed to the commission of the crime and mentioned one OLATUNJI MICHEAL who resides in Akure, Ondo State, but was later arrested, and three others who are currently at large as his accomplices.”
