Police arrest notorious cultist in Ogun State

A notorious member of the dreaded Eiye confraternity, Olamide Olabode has been apprehended by operatives of Ogun State Police Command on his way to launch an attack with other members of his group.

NigeriaCrime.com learned that the suspect was arrested on the 23rd of October 2022, at Oke-iganmu area of Ilaro/Papalanto road, while the patrol team from Ilaro division were on routine patrol of the area and sighted the suspect and two others on a Bajaj motorcycle.

It was gathered that the suspect who was sitting at the back quickly jumped down from the motorcycle and ran into the bush with a bag.

Confirming the arrest, SP Abimbola Oyeyemi, Police Public Relations Officer, Ogun State Police Command said the suspect who ran immediately after he sighted police officers was hotly chased and arrested, while the other two sped off on the motorcycle.

On searching the bag with him, two locally made short guns, four live cartridges, one knife and weeds suspected to be Indian hemp were recovered therein.
On interrogation, the suspect confessed been a leading member of Eiye cult group, and that they were heading to Agodo village for an operation.”

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Bankole, has directed that the suspect be transferred to anti cultist unit of the State Criminal Investigation Department for discreet investigation.

Recall that two weeks ago operatives of Ogun state Police Command arrested eleven suspected members of the dreaded cult group at Sango Ota, in Ado Odo Ota local government area of Ogun state.

The suspects, Moshood Owolabi, Olayemi Arukudu, Yusuf Olajide, Ibukun Adeoye, Yomi Samson Faruk Salami, Olukunde Isaac, David Nwuzor, Nwanah Samuel, Ogunrinde Ganiyu and Chukwuemeka were arrested following a piece of information received by policemen at Sango Ota divisional headquarters that the suspects who are responsible for series of cult clashes in Sango Ota and its environs in recent time are meeting in a house at NO. 13, Ago adura Street Ijoko ota in preparation for another round of violent attack.
