Bandits who kidnapped 20 children at Kusherki, Rafi Local Government Area of Niger State, are demanding N40 million ransom for their release.
The victims, comprising four boys and 16 girls between ages 4 and 10 years old were abducted about three weeks ago.
NigeriaCrime.com gathered that a resident of the community, Alhaji Auwal Usman, in an interview on Tuesday, November 8, explained that the bandits are now asking for N40m before the release of the abductees who are being made to undergo difficult situations at the hands of the gunmen.
Usman called for increased efforts by the state government and other relevant stakeholders to ensure they are rescued unhurt.
“We are appealing to the Niger State government and security agencies to come to our assistance because parents of the kidnapped children are under serious pressure following the abduction of their children and wards,” Usman sai
Recall that 21 children abducted by bandits last week while working on a farm in Mairuwa community, Faskari Local Government Area of Katsina have been released.
SP Gambo Isah, the spokesman for Katsina State Police Command, who confirmed their release said the victims comprising 17 girls and four boys have since been reunited with their respective families as investigations continue.
“It is with great joy that I announce the release of all the 21 abducted workers that were kidnapped while working in a farmland at Kamfanin Mai Lafiya village, Faskari LGA of Katsina state. They have been reunited with their families. An investigation is ongoing please,” he added.
