Man Commits Suicide After He Was Accused Of Stealing Brother’s N40,000

An Adamawa-based man, Iliya Adamu, has ended his life after his brother accused him (Adamu) of stealing his N40,000.

The incident caused panic in the Girei Local Government Area of the state where it reportedly happened.

According to reports, the remains of the 34-year-old deceased was dangling on a tree in a nearby bush in the community.

Adamu committed suicide out of frustration of living with the stigma of being tagged a thief by his yet-to-be-identified brother.

The reportedly stated that Adamu stole the N40,000 kept in a family safe.

After perpetrating the crime, his family members alongside neighbours, who could not locate his whereabouts, launched a search for him in the community.

They were said to have found his lifeless body in the bush two days after he went missing.

Sources in the community also said a container of insecticide was found under the tree where his corpse was found.

Contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje, who confirmed the incident said, “The command is investigating the suicide.”
