2 suspected kidnappers neutralised in Delta State

Operatives attached to B Division, Delta State Police Command have neutralised two suspected kidnappers while on night surveillance patrol duty along Okumagba Estate roundabout in Warri South LGA.

NigeriaCrime.com also learned that the operatives recovered one ak49 rifle, one locally made double barrel gun and cartridges.

Confirming the incident, DSP. Bright Edafe, Police Public Relations Officer, Delta State Command said on the 24, of December 2022 at about 11 pm operatives of ‘B’ Division Warri patrol team, while on night surveillance patrol duty along Okumagba Estate roundabout in Warri South LGA, intercepted a tricycle with two male occupants, and subjected them to a search.

According to Edafe, during the search, three live cartridges concealed under the seat of the tricycle were recovered. The suspects were taken into custody. Upon interrogation, suspects confessed to being members of a five man kidnapping syndicate operating around Warri and its environs.”

“Acting on their confessions, on 25 December 2022, the suspects led Police operatives to their hideout at a house located along Upper Erejuwa Street, where one (1) AK49 rifle with breach no. 11876, one (1) locally made double barrel long gun, and two (2) machetes were recovered. On their way back to the Police Station, the two suspects jumped out of the moving Police Hilux vehicle in an attempt to escape, but the Policemen gave them a hot chase. In a bid to demobilise them, they were maimed by the operatives and re-arrested. The suspects gave up the ghost while they were being taken to the hospital. Manhunt for the other members of the gang is ongoing.”

In a related development, police operatives attached to Awkunanaw Division Enugu State Police Command have arrested an armed robbery suspect, recover firearms and ammunition.

The 21-year-old, suspect identified as Sunday Chukwu was arrested with assistance from the Neighbourhood Watch Group, while on surveillance operation on December 24 2022.

Confirming the arrest, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, Police Public Relations Officer, Enugu State Command said when Sunday Chukwu (male) aged 21 was arrested one (1) locally-fabricated pistol with one (1) live cartridge, was found in his possession.

However, the case is undergoing further discreet investigation, while operational, investigation and intelligence gathering activities geared towards actualising maximum security and safety in the State, have been intensified.
