Barely a few hours after the convoy of a former governor of Imo State, Ikedi Ohakim, was attacked, killing four policemen, yet-to-be-identified gunmen have razed the Afor Atta divisional police headquarters in the Njaba Local Government Area of the state.
The incident was said to have happened on Monday night.
A source within the community disclosed that the attackers got to the police station and threw explosives on the facility and it burnt.
NIGERIACRIME also gathered that there was no policeman on duty when the gunmen attacked the facility.
The source said, “The police station in my community has been burnt. It was burnt last night. Nobody could come out because of fear. As we speak, the area is desserted.”
Recall that a group of gunmen had in June 2021 attacked the same police station after two courts beside it were burnt.
The spokesperson for the police in the state, Micheal Abattam, had yet to issue a statement concerning the incident.
