A middle-aged man, Michael Shadrach, has been dragged before a Kado Grade 1 Area Court, Abuja for allegedly stealing a mobile phone worth N740,000.
The Federal Capital Territory Police Command on Thursday, charged the suspect with no fixed house address of theft.
The issue was reported at Utako Police Station on January 15, at about 11:00 am by the victim, one Mr Abdalsalam Abdulsalam, who is from Suleja in Niger State.
According to the prosecutor, Stanley Nwafoaku, Abdulsalam pulled over at Krystal lounge Wuse 11 Abuja, to ask for directions to a particular place on January 12, but was disposed of his iPhone 13 Promax, valued N740, 000 by the defendant and his accomplice, who is now at large.
The prosecutor told the court that the two suspects had approached the complainant to park his vehicle properly; in the process, they stole his phone.

While the police apprehended the defendant, the other suspect escaped with Abdulsalam’s phone, the prosecutor stated.
Nwafoaku said during the police investigation, Shadrach admitted to the crime and added that the offence contravened sections 79 and 288 of the penal code.
The defence counsel, Charity Nwosu, made a bail application for the defendant in the most liberal terms, after Shadrach pleaded not guilty to the charge.
She said Nwosu promised that the defendant would not jump bail if granted, which the prosecutor did not object.
The Judge, Muhammed Wakili, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N200, 000 and one surety in like sum.
Wakili ordered that the surety must provide a BVN printout, a recent passport photograph and a valid identification card, which must be verified by the court registrar.
The Judge adjourned the matter until March 16 for a hearing.
