The Chairman of, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Mr AbdulRasheed Bawa has been suspended indefinitely to allow for proper investigation into his conduct while in office.
Nigeriacrime.com learned that AbdulRasheed Bawa’s suspension was approved by President Bola Tinubu.
According to a statement signed by the Director of Information in the office of the Secretary General of the Federation, AGF, Willie Bassey said Bawa’s suspension followed weighty allegations of abuse of office levelled against him.
Bassey stated that Mr Bawa has been directed to immediately hand over the affairs of his office to the Director, Operations in the Commission, who will oversee the affairs of the Office of the Chairman of the Commission pending the conclusion of the investigation.

President Bola Tinubu suspended the Central Bank Governor, Mr Godwin Emefiele, from office with immediate effect.
According to the Government of the Federation SGF, Mr Willie Bassey the decision was “sequel to the ongoing investigation of his office and the planned reforms in the financial sector of the economy”.
Like AbdulRasheed Bawa, Mr Emefiele was directed to immediately hand over the affairs of his office to the Deputy Governor (Operations Directorate), who will act as the Central Bank Governor pending the conclusion of the investigation and the reforms”.
The arrest of Emefiele shortly after being suspended from office by the President has drawn mixed reactions.
