Airforce Personnel Allegedly Kill ‘Troublesome’ Son They Were Invited To Tame

Tragedy struck at Owa Street in Emene, in the Enugu East Local Government Area of Enugu State after some personnel of the Nigerian Air Force attached to Enugu Ground Base allegedly killed a man, Emeka Oduenyi.

It was gathered that the deceased’s family had invited the military officers to tame Emeka due to the fact that he was stubborn.

Emeka, the only son of his parents, was beaten to death on Thursday, May 25, 2023, after the Air Force personnel, who were reportedly on illegal duty went to his father’s house and whisked him away.

According to a source close to the family, the 30-year-old deceased beat up his sister against the warning of his father, identified simply as Chief Oduenyi, who had warned him to desist from the act.

In order to allow his father’s anger subside, Emeka reportedly left the house and went to sleep in a friend’s house the Wednesday the incident happened.

Emeka on Thursday morning was said to have left his friend’s house against his advice and went home to cause more trouble.

The source said, “So, his father through one of their neighbours called some personnel of the Nigerian Air Force to come and assist him to tame him. The military personnel came and picked him up. Surprisingly, a few hours later, somebody called the father that his son was sick and that he should come to Annunciation Specialist Hospital.

“On getting to the hospital, the doctors on duty confirmed him dead.”

Another source disclosed that there were bruises all over his body, raising the suspicion that he was tortured to death.

“Again, the mortician that embalmed the body told the family that the boy had some fractures at the pharynx and lymph nodes.”

Efforts to get Chief Oduenyi’s reaction failed as the bereaved father declined stating anything.

He, however, said, “Emeka will be buried tomorrow (Thursday) in our village in Amuri community in Nkanu West LGA of Enugu State.”

Contaccted, the Nigerian Air Force Base, Enugu, denied any knowledge of the incident.

The spokesperson for the Enugu Air Force Base, Mercy Awomukwu said, “I am hearing this from you, we don’t have any record of such an incident here. If you are right with your information, help us with the identities of the personnel involved.”
