At least nine suspected Sara-Suka thugs involved in the luring and killing of 23-year-old Abbas Jibrin, alias Timo, in 2022 have been arrested by men of the Bauchi State Police Command.
The suspects, who reportedly killed Timo were arrested on Sunday when the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) of the command raided a criminal hideout on Wednesday.
The development was made known by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Ahmed Mohamed Wakil, in a statement signed and made available to journalists in Bauchi.
Wakil gave the names of the arrested suspects as Mustapha Abdulmumini, 20, Kabiru Haruna, 23, Sulaiman Al-Mustapha, 18, Umar Ibrahim, 19, Ibrahim Ahmad, 19, Sunusi Abdulhamid, 18, Idris Malam, 19, Ibrahim Mohammed, 23, and Sani Muktar, 21.
He stated that four of those arrested were prime suspects in the killing of the victim.
Furthermore, the police spokesperson saod that the prime suspects and others now at large inflicted cutlass injuries on the deceased who was later rescued by the police and taken to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH), in Bauchi where he was certified dead.
According to the police spokesman, the quartet of Mustapha Abdulmumini, Kabiru Haruna, Sulaiman Al-Mustapha and Umar Ibrahim mutilated the body of the victim last year.
Meanwhile, a secondary school student has died while an unspecified number of persons were reportedly swept away by flood following a downpour in Sagamu, Ogun State, on Tuesday.

Parts of Sagamu affected by flooding included Ajaka, Express Junction, Olayinka, Ogunyanwo and Isale-Ojumele.
The dead schoolboy, who was suspected to be a student of Agbele Community High School, was swept off his feet after he fell from a bike into the flood and drowned.
Millions of naira worth of properties, including motorcycles, were washed away while some residents sustained injuries.
A resident in one of the affected areas, Banjo Adeoye, said, “We had something like this last year and it was more terrible; we cried out to the government, but we got no help. We don’t have a good drainage system on this axis.
“The flood has nowhere to pass, but into our houses. We thought the information from last year will help them plan well for this year, but here we are today, a boy lost his life. We don’t know how many okada or property we will have to look for.”
The Ogun State Commissioner for Environment, Ola Oresanya, on Wednesday, confirmed the incident when he paid a visit to the affected areas for an on-the-spot assessment.
Oresanya stated that the redesign of the drainage master plan of the state has become imperative.
He, however, called on the Federal Government for assistance.
