There was tension in the Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State as gunmen suspected to be political assailants abduct the All Progressives Congress (APC) and party secretary in the LGA, Mr Amadi Osaronu.
According to reports available to NIGERIACRIME, Osaronu was abducted by gunmen dressed in police uniforms from his residence in Aluu, Ikwerre LGA on Wednesday.
The incident was confirmed by the state State APC Publicity Secretary, Darlington Nwauju, on Thursday.
“No amount of intimidation and arm-twisting will change the outcome of the March 18 which would be a resounding defeat for the Peoples Democratic Party,” he said.
As of the time of filing this report, details surrounding the abduction is sketchy.

In a separate development, a commercial motorcyclist and his passenger were on Wednesday crushed to death by a truck in Ogun State.
The accident occurred at about 9:10 am around Toll Gate, Bible College, Sango, Ogun State, according to the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in the state.
The crash involved a Daf truck with registration number, KTG941YG and a Bajaj motorcycle with no registration number.
The Ogun FRSC spokesperson, Florence Okpe, said four male adults were involved in the accident.
“Two persons were recorded dead and two others were unhurt,” Okpe said.
She blamed the crash on excessive speed and route violation on the part of the motorcycle rider.
“The DAF truck driver travelling along Abeokuta-Lagos towards Toll Gate, Ota collided with the motorcycle rider, who violated his route and both the rider and the [passenger] died on the spot,” she said.
Okpe added that the bodies of the victims have been deposited at the morgue in Ifo General Hospital.
