The Commissioner of Police, Edo State Police Command, CP Muhammed A. Dankwara, has warned citizens and residents against the use of fireworks during the festive season.

He enjoins citizens not to, under the pretext of celebrating the season, engage in any illegality, particularly the throwing or shooting of fireworks, also known as, ‘knockouts’, ‘rockets’, etc.

The CP warned that Police operatives of the command have been given specific instructions to clamp down on dealers of fireworks, those who patronised them, and the users, adding that anyone caught breaking the law would be brought to book accordingly.

Dankwara also seized the opportunity presented by the visit to congratulate all the Christian faithful in the state as they celebrate Christmas.

Meanwhile, the CP assured citizens and residents of Edo State that the Police and other law enforcement agencies in the state will ensure adequate security before, during, and after the Yuletide season.
