Enugu EFCC Office Destroyed By Fire

The office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Enugu State has been razed by fire.

NIGERIACRIME learnt that the inferno started around 12:30 am on Friday.

According to a statement by the Head of Media of the anti graft agency, Wilson Uwujaren, on Friday, one of the buildings within the Zonal Command was consumed by the inferno.

“The incident which occurred at about 12.30 am Friday, was triggered by a surge in public power supply.

“The ensuing inferno was later put out through the combined efforts of the Enugu State and Federal Fire Service,” he said.

The spokesperson added that no life was lost in the incident.

Meanwhile, the operatives of Osun Amotekun Corps have apprehended two persons, Nafiu Biodun, 21, and Tijani Wakili Dada, 30, for the attempted murder of Lateef Sikiru, in Apomu, Isokan Local Government Area of Osun State.

The suspects were arrested on Wednesday after a complaint was lodged at Amotekun Isokan Command and the operatives swung into action immediately and apprehended them in their hideout.

Confirming the arrest to journalists in Osogbo, the Osun Amotekun Corps Commander, Brigadier General Bashir Adewinmbi (retd) revealed that the suspects were arrested at different locations in Apomu after attempting to murder Lateef Sikiru by shooting a gun at him.

“A complaint was lodged at Amotekun Isokan Local Government Command and the operatives swung into action immediately and the culprits were apprehended in their hideout.

“During Cross-examination, Biodun confessed to perpetrating the act while Wakili said he gave Abiodun his gun with the motive that he wanted to use the gun to kill bush meat,” Adewinmbi said.

The suspects have been handed over to the police for subsequent interrogation and prosecution.
