Extortion: 3 officers to face punitive measure In Ogun State

Three officers, attached to Ogun State Police command involved in professional misconduct have been set to face punitive measures.

Nigeriacrime.com learned that the officers Insp. Ikhanorba Lucky, Insp. Paul Sunday and Insp. Edwin Ekeogu were involved in professional misconduct while on visibility policing duty at Maawu Bus stop in Agbado.

The spokesperson for Ogun State command, Omolola Odutola, who disclosed this in a statement she made available to newsmen in Abeokuta, gave the names of the officers to include; Insp. Ikhanorba Lucky, Insp. Paul Sunday and Insp. Edwin Ekeogu.

Odutola explained that “the officers were caught on camera flagrantly extorting money from commercial motorcyclists in contravention of the Police Act and Regulations”.

She said that “the inappropriate actions of the three policemen were subsequently shared on social media”.

The PPRO noted that the State Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alamutu strongly condemned the unprofessional act of the men.

” To address this misconduct, the Command has activated appropriate disciplinary measures against the erring personnel.

” This is to ensure that they are held accountable for their misconduct and to serve as a deterrent to others who might be tempted to toe this ignoble path.

” The CP has for the umpteenth time emphasised police high hierarchy commitment to upholding professional standards within the force to sustain quality service delivery to the citizens and sustain public trust and confidence in Nigeria Police Force,” she said.
