Five members of a suspected syndicate terrorising residents and stealing motorcycles have been arrested by the Osun State Security Network Agency, codenamed Amotekun.
NigeriaCrime.com gathered that the suspects, identified as Tayo Oguniran, 30, Adegboye Olumoyero, 32, Hamzat Sheu, 21, Awal Hassan, 34, Zaharadeen Bello, 25, and Usman Umar, 25, were arrested in the midnight along Osu/Ife road and Ifon/Iresa Adu/Ogbomoso road during a routine patrol along the roads.
The suspects who confessed to selling the stolen cycles to the neighbouring state were paraded by Amotekun field commandant, Amitolu Shittu.
According to Amitolu Shittu, the operatives on routine night patrol apprehended the criminals on their way to Ibadan and Ogbomoso to sell the motorcycles to their buyers respectively.
They were arrested after stealing a Bajaj and TVS motorcycle in Ifon-Osun and Ilesa and heading to Ogbomoso and Ibadan to sell it to their customers.
“The suspects admitted to having committed the crime and explained that they have been in the business for a long time.
“They further confessed that it was their fifth time stealing motorcycles and transporting them to Ogbomoso and Ibadan.
“Amotekun corps is currently investigating to arrest other criminals that are involved in the act and urged members of the public to support the corps by revealing the identity of criminals within their vicinity. You should all be security conscious at this time.
“I want to assure you that the suspects will be handed over to a conventional security agency for proper prosecution soon”, he added
