The Ogun State Police Command in collaboration with the Ogun State Community, Social Orientation, and Safety Corps have apprehended five individuals suspected of being affiliated with the Aiye and Alora Confraternities.

They suspects were arrested in the Sagamu and Sango-Ota areas of the state following multiple raids by the security team.

According to a police source, the suspects had intentions to wreak havoc in the communities but were intercepted and detained on Friday and Saturday.

It was gathered that members of the community had earlier informed the police about a potential attack by cultists on Saturday.

Prompted by community members’ information, law enforcement and safety personnel initiated patrols in the area.

The security team who raided the criminal hideouts arrested a suspect named Richard Edet from Shasha, Lagos State, while others managed to escape into the bush.

Earlier, police had received intelligence about a secret confraternity meeting planned within the area on Friday.

This led to extensive combing and patrols, resulting in the arrest of four suspected Aiye Confraternity members: Ahmed Oguntoyinbo, Sikiru Komolafe, and Abiola Alashebi, believed to be residents of Ifo Local Government, apprehended in Sagamu on Friday.

According to Punch, the suspects confessed of their involvement in cultism.

Police said they would be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department after initial inquiries.

Likewise, in Sagamu’s Sakura area, a 25-year-old suspected cultist named Olatunji Azeez was arrested by the police division, following a raid led by Ojo Agunloye.

Azeez, who recently relocated from Ijebu-Ode, confessed to being an Alora Confraternity member and is slated for transfer to the anti-tactical team for further investigation.

Confirming these operations and arrests, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, assured that all suspects would face prosecution after the investigations.
