At least five persons have been nabbed for allegedly raping mostly underage girls in their various locations of Nasarawa State.
The suspects were apprehended by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corp (NSCDC), Nasarawa State Command.
The incident was brought to limelight by the Public Relations Officer of the Command, Jerry Victor, while parading the suspects in Lafia, the state capital.
The offenses were committed at different times in Nasarawa Eggon and Awe Local Government Areas of the State, as reported by the command’s image maker.
The spokesperson stated that the “worst of them all is the 15-year-old John Ishaku, who raped an 8-year-old girl in Nasarawa Eggon.”

Speaking further, Victor said, “The mother got to know the next day when the victim was walking, not normal, and immediately when she inquired from the little girl, it was then that the little girl had to open up to her that this is what the suspect, John Ishaku, did to her.
“Upon examination, she got to understand that there was a tear in her private part and she rushed her to the hospital. Upon examining her by the doctor, the doctor felt that it is very necessary to get the security agencies to get involved in the matter.”
NSCDC further said that a primary school teacher, Abdulwahab Bello and Taimako raped 8 and 13 year old girls in their respective areas.
Victor reiterated that the command was ready to conclude the investigations and have the suspects prosecuted in the court of law.
He asked parents who have minors to monitor the movements of their children.
“Parents should monitor the movements of their children, especially the female ones. We all know that they need more care than their male counterparts,” the image maker said.
